Most people don’t know what periodontal disease is, but it’s actually the most common dental problem in the entire world. You might have heard it called another name—gum disease. This is a bacterial infection that specifically attacks the supporting structures of the teeth, and that’s why it’s the leading cause of adult tooth loss here in the US! Fortunately, Dr. Doctor is specially trained to find and treat gum disease right here in Arlington. At the earliest sign of trouble, he can provide proven periodontal therapy in Arlington specifically designed to remove this troublesome bacteria and keep your smile safe.

Scaling & Root Planing
Scaling and root planing is a single procedure that is similar to a dental cleaning, except it’s meant to remove the root cause of gum disease: deposits of bacteria-filled tartar on the teeth beneath the gum line. Once the tartar has been broken up and cleared away, the roots of the teeth are slightly reshaped and smoothed out. This lowers the chances of gum disease coming back by making it harder for tartar to gather along the gums in the future.
Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
For more advanced gum disease, laser periodontal treatment is a much more precise and comfortable way to handle it versus the old way, which involved a minor surgery in which the roots of the teeth were exposed so they could be properly cleaned. With a laser, a concentrated beam of light is used to literally vaporize the bacteria along the gum line while also sanitizing and cauterizing the tissues as it goes. This leads to an effective and painless treatment, so much so that most patients don’t even need local anesthetic.
Chao Pinhole Surgery
Chao Pinhole Surgery is a much less invasive way to correct gum recession versus a traditional gum graft. Dr. Doctor only uses a literal pin-sized hole placed in the gums to move them back into the correct position. The procedure itself is fast, virtually-painless, and extremely effective. Results are almost instant, and thanks to the lack of incisions and sutures, recovery is very quick as well.
In cases of extreme gum recession, sometimes a gum graft is the only viable solution. Rather than referring you to an outside specialist for this procedure, Dr. Doctor is able to complete it himself, having trained with some of the most elite dental surgeons in the world. Using tissue harvested from a patient’s mouth or donated tissue, he can fully restore the gum line to dramatically improve both the health and appearance of the smile.
Gum & Bone Regeneration
In order for a patient to be a good candidate to receive a dental implant, their jawbone has to be strong enough to support the prosthetic root. Patients who have had missing teeth for a long time often suffer from bone loss in the jaw, making it too weak to safely hold an implant. In these cases, Dr. Doctor is able to perform gum and bone regeneration surgery to build up and strengthen the appropriate areas of a patient’s mouth, giving them access to the most reliable and natural-looking tooth replacement available today.
